Privacy policy

Overview

Ta3lam is a voice-based Arabic learning app provided by LevAI (“we”). This policy explains what data we process, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have. We built Ta3lam to work without accounts and to keep most of your data on your device.

What stays on your device

The following is stored on your device only and is never sent to us:

• The name you enter in the app, your level, helper language, dialect, and mode (adult or kids).
• Display and reading preferences, your chosen tutor, and your mushaf bookmark.
• Your practice results, progress and review schedule.
• A random install identifier created on your device and not sent to us.

What we process on our servers

• Voice recordings: sent to our server to score your pronunciation and transcribed on that same server, then deleted as soon as the request finishes. We don't store recordings or use them to train models.
• Text you send to the AI tutor, along with lesson context (such as the lesson topic, sounds and words to practise, your last score, level and dialect), to generate the tutor's reply.
• Text to be spoken aloud, when you choose cloud voice.
• IP address: held briefly in memory for rate limiting, and present in technical server logs.
• Crash reports: technical details about the crash and device type, when crash reporting is enabled in the build.

How we use it

To score your pronunciation and run your practice, power the AI tutor and spoken audio, protect the service from abuse, fix crashes and improve Ta3lam. We never sell your data, and we don't show ads.

Who processes data for us

They process data only to provide their services to us. We may also share data where the law requires it.

• Oracle Cloud: hosting for Ta3lam's servers.
• Groq: the AI models that generate the tutor's replies (receives text only, never voice recordings).
• Google Cloud Text-to-Speech: speech for cloud voice (receives text only).
• Cloudflare: storage and delivery of lesson and mushaf content.
• Sentry: crash reports.
• Google Play and Apple: payments and subscriptions for in-app purchases.
• IP-to-country services: this website's pricing page shows prices in your country's currency; we don't store the address.

Children

Ta3lam includes a dedicated kids mode. The app needs no account, email or other personal data to get started, and we recommend children use it with a parent or teacher nearby. If you are a parent and believe your child has sent us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Retention

Voice recordings are deleted as soon as they are processed. Technical server logs and crash reports are kept for a limited time to fix problems. Data on your device stays there until you delete the app. We keep payment records as the law requires.

Your choices

You can remove everything stored on your device by deleting the app. You can ask us at any time to access or delete any data about you that we hold.

Changes

We may update this policy; when we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
